WOMAN ON A MISSION

"All sisters unite, you can leave your fear behind, believe in yourself, be strong"

For over more than a decade of existence, Cross Club Prague has been trying to act as an independent platform, supporting not only art in general, but also stimulating a debate on its impact and broader meaning in the context of culture. In our efforts, we have joined forces with Steve Vibronics, producer with more than twenty years of experience and a catalogue of releases, firmly establishing him as a leading figure in dub music worldwide. Our work is fuelled by great passion for everything that promotes understanding and brings people together. In that spirit we have supported many groups of people, who are underprivileged and struggling to be heard, be it because of their skin colour, nationality, gender or sexual orientation. In this project, we are focusing on women, specifically women in music and thus literally providing their cause with a voice. It is no secret that, even today, women face all kinds of obstacles on their way to equality, yet many are quick to dismiss that fact.

Our aim is to involve women in music across all genres, no matter if they are up and coming, or famous and share their experiences through series of interviews and talks. Even though it may not seem so, the music industry too, is not always a level playing field for men and women alike. The ultimate goal is a compilation album series with the participants. 10% of the sales proceeds will go to Womankind Worldwide (https://www.womankind.org.uk/), a women's rights and international development organisation, while the rest will be used for the next release.

INTERVIEWS

I started cello when I was eight and I was quite young when I started to play in front of a public. I've always loved performing but I belive something special happened when I started to write songs. I'm not sure that would make me an "artist" but I was 20 and I knew that I would never stop doing it....

How did you become an artist?
By being born! I mean I just think it's something you feel, in a way we are all artists wether your a mother or a CEO living this complicated dream we call life. Everyone has an outlet for expression, some people keep their emotions deep down inside and others use their emotions...
