INTERVIEW with NNEKA

04.12.2017

How did you become an artist?

Being in a country far way from home I had a certain need to express and communicate hence my lyrics. I also developed a longing sort of a craving for each I understand now is not necessarily good if it's unhealthy but I learned how to use this craving for my country to comment on humanitarian and social issues.

Who/what inspired you to become a musician?

Emptiness.

Do you feel any impact of your birthplace on your music?

Definitely as already mentioned above the feeling of being a I get Ian far way from home made me sing about it.

And of cause Nigerian is is a very musical place. Almost everything is expressed through rhythm and beat. Growing up there were lots of festivities and celebrations.

How does art manifest itself in your life?

Art is life and there is an art in living

What does creativity mean to you?

Creativity is health.

What is the power of music?

Music is God. God is all powerful.

Do you think female artists are treated differently to male artists?

In a superficial world .Yes. It also depends on what type of people you have around you and also what type of woman you are. :)

So sometimes we attract a lot if negative energy if we are not confident or if we ours have issues.

Women don't have to be feminists or or exterminate to be heard. I think all bass down to one thing and this is: why are you doing that you are doing and for whom?

What message do you have for girls and women who are trying to find the courage to make music?

Just do it. Put effort in the beginning and then let go of that effort and all will flow eventually.

When you have a inspirational blockage, let it be. It is important to be silent in order for you to be creative.

Peace and light
